Celebrating 4th of July in Sedona (2026)

A Sedona 4th of July doesn't feel like your typical big-city celebration. Trade in loud fireworks displays for sun-drenched red rock views, water-based festivities, live music, shaded patios, and a slow evening under the stars.

Sedona does not host its own fireworks display due to its designation as an International Dark Sky Community. Instead, Sedona celebrates Independence Day with daytime, family-friendly events and resort activities.

For guests staying in our luxury Sedona vacation rentals, we've got you covered for the best way to spend the 4th of July holiday vacation, from morning hiking and hanging at the pool, to parades, BBQs, and nearby fireworks.

July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of American independence. Expect extra historical and cultural programming across the country, including in Sedona and the Verde Valley.

America 250 Celebration at Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village in Sedona is hosting a special "America 250" event.

This vibrant celebration features live music, patriotic art exhibits, and family-friendly activities that highlight the rich cultural heritage of the United States. Visitors can enjoy the festive atmosphere while exploring galleries and shops, making it a perfect complement to Sedona’s 4th of July festivities.

The event offers a unique perspective on the nation’s history through the lens of local artists and artisans, encouraging community engagement and reflection during this landmark year.

Sedona Summer Splash

Sedona's biggest annual pool party washes in just in time to celebrate the 4th of July: the Sedona Summer Splash. This free community event happens on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Sedona Community Pool.

Plan for an afternoon of water fun with giant water slides, open swim, pool games, a DJ, food trucks, and lawn areas where guests can relax between dips in the pool. Because there are no fireworks in Sedona, this is the primary family-friendly midday event for kids, grandparents, and anyone who wants fun without heat exhaustion.

Swim attire is required for pool use, and only ADA service dogs are allowed inside the facility. Visitors should bring towels, sunscreen, hats, water bottles, and their own chairs. Parking is available near West Sedona School.

Fantastic Family Fourth of July

If Independence Day fireworks are a non-negotiable for your holiday weekend, you're in luck. Although Sedona doesn't host fireworks shows, you're just a short drive away from fireworks to celebrate America's birthday.

For a traditional fireworks experience, visitors can drive about 20 minutes south to Cottonwood, which hosts the Fantastic Family 4th of July celebration. The Cottonwood fireworks show is considered one of the best in Northern Arizona, with the event starting at 4 PM and fireworks scheduled for 9 PM.

The Fantastic Family Fourth of July takes place at Cottonwood Kids Park with free food until 6 PM, kids’ activities, a VFW Patriotic Salute, and games before the fireworks finale.

If you're planning to arrive in time for the fireworks, we recommend leaving Sedona before sunset in case of traffic. Bring blankets or chairs.

The Road is Life Exhibit

The Road is Life: Sedona & Route 66 is an exhibit at the Sedona Heritage Museum that celebrates 100 years of Route 66. It coincides with America 250 to honor the historic highway's impact on travel and culture.

Outdoors250

In 2026, Sedona is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States with the statewide Outdoors250 special events. It includes Birding250 and Trails250 guided excursions at Red Rock State Park, which run through July 4th.
